Evaluating Jeans Day 6

Today I am wearing a jean I have had for a very long time. This pair also from The Loft. The material between my legs are rubbing thin and have started to pill and turn a lighter color. They have a nice fit because they are very high waisted and stay up decent without a belt. The material is super thin and is almost a jegging.

Evaluating Jeans Day 5

Today the jean was 7 for all Mankind. I was introduced to this brand many years ago and bought a pair of jeans on my honeymoon. The pair on the honeymoon is a nice pair that I have gotten so much use out of. When I saw these on the Lord and Taylor website I took and gamble and tried another pair out. I purchased them a size up looking to get a looser fit in the legs.

Evaluating Jeans Day 4

Today I decided I was going to switch it up and not wear a traditional jean. Three days of just jeans is already tough because the weather has been a bit warm and I would rather be in lighter cooler clothing. I have 15 pairs to evaluate before 9/22 so I have to keep going. Today the lucky pair was The Loft [and surprise another skinny jean!!]. Many items in my wardrobe are from The Loft. The Loft has been a go to store after I had my son. When my body went through transitional sizes it was a store that was affordable and had clothing that fit really well. I live walking distance from a store and would find myself going for fun and always finding nice items. Most of my work wardrobe comes from the store. They always have different kinds of pants and these ones have a nice color and a bit of special details with the square front pocket.

I Hate My Jeans

I am in a hate hate relationship with my jeans these days. As the weather is cooling I started wearing jeans. I hate them, I hate them, Oh I hate them.

There are so many problems with the jeans I own. Most have high amounts of stretch that enable all bumps and lumps to show. I am not sure if it is the stretch content or what but I am sick and tired of pulling up my jeans after 10 steps (a belt only helps some). Lastly, most of them are skinny jeans and I think I might be over that trend.

High Quality Outerwear

I think everyone should have a high quality dress coat or even two. Living in Upstate New York where the winters are very cold and covered in snow it’s important to have appropriate outerwear.

When attending events in the winter that require formal dress, having the right coat makes the outfit. I actually have many fancy winter coats. My favorite is my Guess black wool coat that was a gift about 15 years ago from my mother. She has great taste in clothing and knocked it right out of the park with this. The coat has a very special feature, if you button it fully the collar makes a high neck that not only gives added protection in the cold but also looks amazing. The belt also brings the coat in at the waist making it look more feminine. This somewhat classic black coat has many special design details that make it a truly special timeless item.

Like all people who experience cold snowy winters, outerwear is so important. The need to stay warm and be comfortable is extremely important, and for me I also like to look good. I stress the need for a quality coat because coats are already a more expensive items of clothing. If you already are spending a good bit of money might as well get the highest quality you can find. Finding a good coat that can be used regularly for years and still look good is important. I would call this coat high quality because with many MANY years of continuous wear it still looks great!

Maintenance: This coat requires dry cleaning or spot cleaning when dirty. Condition: The entire wool exterior is in great condition. The lining had a few tears and pocket that I mended. Current issue is a missing font button. I do not have an extra button but plan on replacing all buttons. All issues with the coat are pretty minor and common with this this type of outerwear.

Photos in the coat were taken Dec 2nd 2018 at a dear friends wedding. It was a beautiful ceremony and reception. I just love cold weather/snowy weddings. They truly are magical. ❤

Found: Closet Photos 2015

I found some old photographs of a closet overhaul back in 2015. So much has changed since these photos. We added an addition on our home and now have a nice small walk in closet. My husband and I share the new closet with some added regular home storage. I can’t wait to share photos of the new and improved.

When these photos were taken our home was a little over 700 square feet of living space, we now have 1700 square feet. This is a good bit larger and it is oh so nice. We don’t have a basement, garage, or attic for storage and we have minimal closet space. I love my home and make the best of my space and cant wait to share some of my storage techniques.

Scrapping the Budget Already

As soon as I decided to use a budget I shopped at Lord and Taylor and blew it. I had quite a bit of regret over not just blowing the budget already but for impulse buying expensive shoes. So after a bunch of thought I am going to try something new. No shopping at all.

No shopping at all

Since I already purchased quite a bit this year I am planning on not buying any items of clothing until next year. To put it into perspective in the first 7-1/2 months of the year I purchased – 15 shirts, 1 sweater, 8 pants, 4 dresses, 3 coats, 3 skirts, 1 swim, and 3 shoes. Yowza. In the remaining 4-1/2 months the plan is to not buy anything at all.

This is going to be pretty tough. Many people put themselves on shopping bans or hardly buy clothing at all and enjoy it. For a shopaholic this is going to be pretty hard. This is the first pretty extreme step I am going to take to help myself change my habits.

I am starting one step behind because I honestly don’t know if I will be able to do this. I have so many doubts in my ability. It seems pretty simple, just don’t shop until next year. My biggest fear is that I will be miserable with limiting myself.

Wish me luck
